What is
Tenders Electronic Daily (TED)
Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) is the EU's official database for notices of public tenders across the entire EEA area. This is where larger public procurements must be published to ensure open competition across national borders.
How does TED work?
When a Norwegian contracting authority is making a procurement above certain financial limits (known as threshold values), the tender must first be published in the Norwegian database Doffin. From there, the notice is automatically forwarded to the TED database.
For example: If the City of Oslo needs to purchase new electric buses for NOK 60 million, this must be published on both Doffin and TED since the amount exceeds the threshold value of NOK 57.8 million for construction contracts.
Key information in TED notices
A TED notice always contains:
- What is being procured
- Who the contracting authority is
- What qualification criteria apply to suppliers
- What award criteria will be used
- Deadlines for participating in the competition
Modern tools like Cobrief make it easier to keep track of relevant tenders from TED by automatically monitoring new notices and alerting you when interesting opportunities arise.
Suppliers who want to stay on top of all relevant tenders should therefore monitor both Doffin and TED. This ensures you catch every opportunity, both national and international. The TED database is free to use and available in all EU languages, making it straightforward to participate in tender procedures across borders.
